Here's What to Do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite
We are making our way through the last several weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Not much is worse than going to bed at night just to find out your furnace won’t start up. If this happens to you, here are some things you can check yourself before your call Norrell Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters monthly. If you fail to do so, they can get clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in your furnace malfunctioning.
Check Your Thermostat
See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem silly, but confirm the power switch next to the heating system is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently moved to the “Off” position.
If you check all these things and your furnace will still not kick on, give Norrell Service Experts a call at 205-267-0023 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
