The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Corporate Office in Plano, TX was thrilled to donate 324 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last fall, I had the ability to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was such an amazing experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go beyond collecting food – they are a vital part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was started by Cheryl Jackson as a way to honor her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent much of her childhood wondering if and where she would obtain her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they get to create healthy, long-lasting meals. They also offer resume support along with budgeting and job classes to help people get back on their feet.
Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to supply meals for six families for the month.
“All the team members were so ecstatic that we had this food drive for them, and they even took time to show us their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
